Bamboo Shoots 2010

Hello to all Elementary Faculty and Staff
A warm and excited greeting from the illustrious Bamboo Shoots Team!
Bamboo Shoots is:
• an Elementary School publication run by grade 4 students that gather together every Wednesday after school.
• a biannual magazine that celebrates students’ learning in Numeracy, Literacy, and Units of Inquiry.
WE HAVE SOMETHING NEW THIS YEAR…
Bamboo Shoots Blog
Check it out at http://bambooshoots.ism-online.org/
Why Blog?
• Our goal is to get students more involved in the process of producing the Bamboo Shoots Magazine
• All work submitted to Bamboo Shoots will be shared on the blog or in the final magazine
• Every voice is heard
• You can include all students’ works
• Share with the wider community (parents and relatives overseas, MS and HS)
• Readers can view anytime…anywhere
• Feedback can be given to pieces of writing through blog comments
What about the magazine?
We will still be having our biannual publication BUT since we have your kids’ works posted already, the staff can easily manage what to include in the magazine…which means NO MORE DEADLINES TO BEAT!
What do we need from you?
• We need samples of work from your class! This can be in the form of a photo, word document, power point, video, etc.
*We will be allocating each teacher a folder where you can save your kids’ work. The Bamboo Shoots staff, in turn, will use what you got to make an update on the blog. Our goal is to have a weekly posting. So the more frequent you can submit work, the better!
